SAN DIEGO'S PRIMIERE GARAGE DOOR REPAIR & INSTALLATION COMPANY
If you see your Cables are spun off or detached from the Drums.
DO NOT ATTEMPT to lift up or push down the garage door. Leave it alone! (Well unless you are a trained professional such as myself). The reason I suggest this is because a number of times I've been out to calls and seen damage done to the panels or damage to the vertical track or both. Most of the time only one Torsion Spring breaks so there is still tension on one and when you try to lift it- it will go up cock-eyed (or go down cock-eyed) and the rollers might pop out, panels might tweak, hinges bust, horizontal tracks might bend, locusts could swarm and a host of other unsavory scenarios might unfold before your very eyes...... Ok...I got carried away there a bit....But really- not messing with the garage door could save you some money on the repair. Also If you can see it- take a look above the door to see if a broken Torsion Spring is the culprit for the cable coming off.
This is a very common repair- and most of the time can be fixed without any additional parts. If the horizontal track is bent a little we can bend it straight and usually the original cables are ok to reuse.
