So you want to get a new garage door and operator and its a older home...with some strange plumbing going on. It happens sometimes that we go out and there are pipes running above the garage door header where the hardware and operater would mount. Usually we can work around it with some lowhead room track or if there is no space for the operator we can install a Liftmaster jackshaft motor. But recently we encountered a job where we had no option but to either install another 1-piece door or call a plumber to reroute some of the pipes. The customer called Workright plumbing San Diego.....they came out rerouted the plumbing and the customer was able to install a sectional garage.

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

Many companies do not attach a strut to 8x7 doors....I'm not exactly sure why they don't do this especially when there is a garage door opener attached. The opener will pull on that top stile and eventually rip the rivots out, that can be prevented with a strut on the top section. The bottom section of this door also was a bit bowed out because a car was backed into it. A second strut was placed on it to pull the panel straight.

Oil Tempered Wire vs. Galvanized

I had the good fortune of becoming involved in the garage door industry in 2003 when my partner and I acquired General Spring LLC. It didn’t take long before we began to hear about—and field—questions regarding oil tempered wire vs. galvanized wire relative to the manufacture of garage door torsion springs. This topic inspires much discussion, and there seems to be two definite and distinct camps in this ongoing debate. My purpose here is not to take one side or the other, but to present information which allows you, the reader, to make your own decision.
